Why Van Lanschot Switzerland?

Living in Switzerland

Living in Switzerland

Perhaps for you, a Dutch or Belgian citizen living in Switzerland, Van Lanschot's offices in Zurich and Geneva have been a well-kept secret. But not for everybody. Previously with Van Lanschot in the Netherlands, one of our clients migrated over ten years ago and opened an account with the bank in Zurich. It's nice to occasionally talk to someone who is used to deal with the Swiss and their customs. Many of our clients enjoy communicating in their mother tongue and interacting with people with a similar cultural background.
Emigration

Emigration

Emigrating is not to be taken lightly. It is a serious decision that involves many different aspects - not only for you, but also for your immediate surroundings. Make sure to take various factors into consideration and plan carefully. Perhaps you are looking for potential financial benefits, but also be aware of irrational aspects that are just as important for you and your family. Be well-informed about all the different kinds of business and tax consequences emigration entails. How are your residency plans affected by taxes? Will you, for example as a former entrepreneur, be confronted with a tax bill at the border? What does this mean for your particular situation? We can advise you, help you navigate unknown shores and point out possible difficulties. Over the years we have gained a lot of expertise and our large network of experts and specialists would be more than happy to share their knowledge with you. This way you will be prepared well ahead when the moving truck pulls over at your house.
Second Home

Second Home

Buying a home abroad is an excellent occasion to take advantage of our contacts in Switzerland. For example, we can introduce you to a real estate agent, a notary public, an attorney and/or a tax lawyer. We'll help you learn more about the do's and don'ts of the Swiss property market, and also about the location and the legal aspects that you need to look out for (for example, after signing the contract you don't have time for respite as is the case in the Netherlands). And are there actually limits to buying a house? Often there are; for example, in Switzerland foreigners are only allowed to purchase a limited amount of homes. Another factor is how you plan to finance your purchase: with your own money or with a loan from the bank? Also, in what currency will you finance, in euros or Swiss francs?
Privacy

Privacy

If you are looking for privacy, then Switzerland is the right place for you. Discretion is innate to our nature. Banking secrecy entails that your financial partner guarantees your financial privacy. Swiss bankers are bound by banking secrecy laws and legally required to compliant client confidentiality. This enables us to (partially) help with your wish to avoid being mentioned on lists or in future publications. For example, if you wish to avoid being listed on the Fortune 500, then Van Lanschot Switzerland is the right bank for you. However, there are limits as banking secrecy is not absolute. Like to you, fiscal transparency and compliance are paramount for the bank. You can read more about fiscal transparency and automatic exchange of information between tax authorities here.

Expats

Expats

Do you travel all over the world, live in different places and move frequently? As an expat it's especially important to have your financial affairs in a politically stable environment and to be sure that they are in safe hands. There is an additional advantage to having a bank account in Switzerland: Suppose your (grand-) child plans to study at one of Switzerland's renowned educational institutes. These are not free and as a foreigner you must provide a statement from a Swiss bank showing that you have sufficient funds to pay for the education. By holding an account with Van Lanschot in Switzerland you can contact us and we can provide you with the required confirmation.

As an expat you could be living anywhere in the world. So much the better if you can leave your investment affairs to a trusted, Dutch-speaking advisor. Will you choose investment advice or wealth management?

The bigger picture

Of course wealth is about figures. But there is more to it. The important question is what you want to do with your wealth. We will help you define the bigger picture and adjust the strategy if your situation or your requirements change
