Negative interest

Negative interest

29 December 2020

As you know, we have high costs for depositing our liquidities with the European Central Bank (ECB) due to the negative interest environment. As a result, we unfortunately have to pass on certain costs to you.

Negative interest rates and your threshold
Per January 1st, Van Lanschot Switzerland introduces a graduated scale for calculating negative interest on your cash. Every quarter we will determine the interest conditions on the basis of your investments and loans with Van Lanschot Switzerland. For the moment we only calculate negative interest fees on Euro (EUR) and Swiss francs (CHF). Cash for which you already pay a flat fee, or for which you have a signed alternative fee agreement with us per 1 January 2021, is excluded from this arrangement. The table below shows the interest conditions as of 1 January 2021. These conditions apply per account. In case you only hold cash with us, there is no exemption threshold.
